Gerry & Carmie -- Engagement

Back in July I had a fun engagement shoot with Gerry and Carmie (officially known as Carmelita, which I consider to be a beautiful name!).  Carmie is a lover of photography and she had some beautiful and fun locations picked out.  I’ve waited to post these pictures until they’d sent out their wedding invitations so I wouldn’t be a spoiler.   I’m looking forward to a beautiful wedding in October!

Family Vacation

Most all of last week found us on the Islands of Chincoteague and Assateague enjoying all the fun of the waves and nature of the island with Nathan's whole family!  I'm greatful for this time to get away and soak up the beatuy of the place and to soak up time with my wonderful family!  These pictures tell some of the story.

Assateague and Chincoteague are famous for the wild ponies. I'm looking forward to the day when my girls are old enough to enjoy the Marguerite Henry books about life on these Islands!

I've been here over and over, but this was the first time I've been to the light house. We donated quite a lot of blood to the mosquitoes to make it down the path to see this! It was worth it though, and climbing to the top was pretty cool too. I love history.

View from the top looking out to the Atlantic.

When on vacation it's important to drink lots of coffee...

and spend as much time as possible with soon-to-be-aunt Rosy,
who can create amazingly cool hair styles!

 Little girl feet.

Grammy brought a fun project (directions here) for the four grandkids!
The mothers complicated it by making the designs not so simple.
But it was fun and the shirts are cute!

 The cutest little niece ever!!!

I love you Jeni!

Just enjoying the sand.
And sun.
And ocean breezes.

We spent a lot of time on the beach.
The skies were beautiful and the water was lovely!

My brother is such a good daddy!

We decided to just tote a "bathtub" along and wash the girls
before we left for the house at the end of the day!
How can such little bodies collect So Much Sand!?!?!

The plants are so different from what I'm used to in the mountains.  This little one was toughing it out alone in the sand.

Water and a bit of Maritime Forrest on Assateague.
This Island is a National Wildlife Refuge.

Sunset over the waters between Chincoteague and the mainland.

Leaving the Eastern Shore and heading back home over the 20 mile long Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
mightier than the breakers of the sea
--the LORD on high is mighty.

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge – Summer Fun!

Summertime Showers and Rainbows – what could be nicer?!
This rainbow lingered in the sky for over twenty minutes
while my girls enjoyed its loveliness!
But I think I enjoyed the greater loveliness – two innocent
golden haired little girls and the rainbow.

Card Project

I’ve been eyeing the silvery Money Plant seed pods
dangling outside on the dead plant stalks and thinking
that they really should be used for something.
The Money Plant itself is pretty neat and very easy to grow.
Find a friend who has one and ask for a few seeds. :)

These thin seed cases are really amazing, so translucent and shimmery;
fragile like fairy wings.

So my girls and I went out and picked some and tried out some ideas. My butterfly card idea didn’t work so well, but the flower cards turned out to be quite pretty! The seed wrappers are almost weightless. When I was showing the girls how we could arrange them into a flower, their slight puffs of breath sailed the iridescent discs right off the paper.

Almost finished… just waiting for a
center from Kadence’s treasure box!

This one reminds me of the ocean
and those iridescent shells we find there.

Kadi’s finished project after I sponge
painted around the edges for her.

 Cassia chose a simple little
pebble for her center.
 I like it.

Bless the LORD, O my soul:
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name.
