Random Tidbits from the Last Few Months

Like the title says, this is bits and pieces from life the last couple of months.

I actually hung new family photos on the living room wall.
The ones I took down were about five years old – high time for an update.
These are “canvases” that I did on the cheap.
(I did a post on this easy method here.)

A beautiful ice storm came along last month,
right before things decided to take a turn for spring.
The view outside was much more lovely than the one inside.

I got my very first smart phone.
No more 160 character text limits!!
And I don’t have to be at my computer to check facebook. ;)

Cassia turned seven.
We decorated her cake with lots of tiny flowers
made from rolled out starbursts and fondant cutters.

What happens when the seven year old daughter
is doing your hair, and the fun of a camera phone.
Never, NEVER, roll your hair up in a comb.
I had to ask Nathan to bring some sort of strong cutting tool
from the shop to cut the comb apart to remove it from my hair.
I was glad no one dropped by the house while I was waiting for my rescue! :)
It’s a good memory now!

When the boots totally wear out, they’re still useful.

It’s a mighty lady hunter we have!

Yesterday I actually had the gumption to siphon gallons
of water from our fish tank and out the window with the garden hose.
We are taking a fish tank break.
After our Angelfish (she’s the same one who had all the surgeries!)
somehow managed to get trapped under some rocks and died (a sad day),
we decided it would be nice to declutter that corner of the living room.
And yes, that’s a bag of rice holding up the lamp.
  The lamp needs a doctor.

And last of all here’s my latest To Do list.

This event has been a real life changer the last few months.
Having a good reason for exhaustion and frequent Dr. visits is pretty exciting!
We’re a expecting a little someone in September!
God is so good.
Not knowing if this would ever happen in our family
after Lyme Disease has made me even more grateful for the miracle.
And as you can probably imagine,
the big sisters are thrilled beyond words.
Nathan had the idea of making a snow family with one
Little Extra to break the news to them.
(the littlest one is the dog, can you tell?)
Watching the reality sink in on their faces as they figured it out
 was something to see.
They went around the rest of the day with goofy grins on their faces.
I may or may not have had the same grin too.

“Blessed be the LORD!
For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.”
Psalm 28:6,7

Newborn Photography -- Mason Carter

So here’s the newest nephew, Mason Carter.
He was born just three days after his cousin,
Quinton, who you saw in the previous set of newborn photos (view here).
There's so much baby fun going on around here!

Mason is nothing but adorable in the little hat
that was made for him by his auntie, Alison.
Yes, the same lady who did Quinton’s whale painting.
She’s talented!

This little man is joining his big sister, Shayla,
who is quite fond of him.

I can’t wait to see the two of them become best friends.

With such a cute big sister, who can resist some
shots of those baby blues and fluffy blond curls?!

Mason, I am glad to be your auntie.
I pray that everything that happens in your life
always points you to the One who formed you so perfectly.

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.”

Newborn Photography -- Quinton James

Meet the new little man, my nephew, Quinton.
What a darling little bundle who came into this new
life on the outside at 5lbs., 12oz. of sweetness.

It is definitely baby having time in my little world!
I’m so happy for family and friends who have had
healthy little ones in the past few months.
God’s gifts are so good!
(One more baby photo session to come – maybe next week.
When it rains, it pours, right?!)

And now… enjoy some tiny baby adorableness!

This next photo says so much to me.
This is little Quinton in his daddy’s strong hands.
The quote on the painting says,
"A ship in harbor is safe,
but that's not what ships are built for. ~J. A. Shedd"
This painting is by my sister-in-law, Alison,
(who agrees she needs an etsy site?!)
and shows a little boy, alone in the boat, gazing down
at the enormous whale below.
Only God knows what He is planning for Quinton’s life.
And only He can prepare Him for that future!

I just love these photos of Quinton in his daddy’s work stained hands.
One day he will be a man too.

This beautiful lady is doing a wonderful job
at something she’s never done before.
Being a mother!
Her love is evident.

And here’s Chloe the dog with the new baby.
She seemed quite delighted with breaking the rules
and being asked to lie on the couch!

I couldn’t resist one of just Chloe
– she's such a pretty lab.

Quinton James, you are a fine little man.
I’m looking forward to watching you grow into a fine big man someday!
God bless you with abundant wisdom,
Matthew and Rosetta!

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned
and have become convinced of,
because you know those from whom you learned it,
and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures,
which are able to make you wise for salvation
through faith in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching,
rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped
for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:14-17
